Marjan announces the opening of Dh450 million 515-room Hampton Hotel at Marjan Island

Marjan, a leading freehold property developer in Ras Al Khaimah, said, it has opened the largest Hampton branded hotel at its flagship Marjan Island, called Hamption by Hilton Marjan Island adding 515 rooms to Ras Al Khaimah’s growing tourism industry.

The project, valued at Dh450 million (US$122.5 million) is the first property by the hotel brand to open in Ras Al Khaimah. It is also the fourth global hotel brand hosted by Al Marjan Island, succeeding Rixos Hotels, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, and Accor Hotels.

Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island is located on a 750-metre beach plot, with architecture inspired by the motion of the sea. Special features of the hotel include a triple-height lobby entrance and a modern design for façade elevations. The hotel has been built using green building materials underlining its focus on promoting environmental sustainability. The entire hotel project was completed in 7.2 million manhours without lost time incidents.

Eng. Abdulla Al Abdooli, CEO of Marjan, said: “With the new Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island opening doors to guests, visitors to Ras Al Khaimah have an added hospitality destination to choose, assuring them world-class service and a relaxed beach lifestyle. This will further add to the appeal of Al Marjan Island to visitors, both from within the UAE and abroad, for staycations and longer holidays. We will continue to build the hotel infrastructure in Al Marjan Island to support the government’s focus on establishing the credentials of Ras Al Khaimah as the region’s leading tourist and investment destination.”

Al Marjan Island is home to over 2,100 operational hotel keys, including the new hotel, and above 2,000 residential units. Marjan plans to develop an additional 2,400 hotel, residential and mixed-use units by 2025 with several already under design review or in different stages of completion.

With four islands, Al Marjan offers an attractive investment destination with 7.8 kilometres of pristine beaches, 23 kilometres of waterfront, 6,500 planned residential units, 8,000 planned hotel rooms and 400-room wellness retreats and 600 holiday villas.

The hotel is part of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority’s Dh500 million (US$136 million) investment plan, covering 20 sustainable tourism projects, as reported by Business Traveller earlier this year.

According to PR Newswire, Ras Al Khaimah has shown exceptional growth in post-pandemic tourism trends. It was named the Gulf Tourism Capital for 2021 by the Gulf Cooperation Council, Ras Al Khaimah is recognized as the world’s first ‘safe’ city, certified by Bureau Veritas, and the first Emirate to receive the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) ‘Safe Travels’ stamp. Markets Insider mentioned Ras Al Khaimah was also the first destination to offer free return PCR tests to inbound travellers which continues to this day.

The property has won two awards: The Leisure and Hospitality Project Award-Cityscape Awards, Emerging Markets 2018; and International Property Awards Dubai (2018/2019).
