Shurooq completes expansion of Kingfisher and Al Badayer eco retreats

Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has completed the expansion of two flagship projects under the Sharjah Collection: The Kingfisher Retreat and Al Badayer Retreat. These expansions saw the addition of 35 tents and other facilities that will add to the enhancement of Sharjah’s eco-tourism and hospitality.

Located on an island off the east coast of Sharjah, the Kingfisher Retreat has added 20 tents, bringing the total count to 40. The expansion includes six one-bedroom tents, eight two-bedroom tents, five three-bedroom tents, and one four-bedroom tent. Furthermore, features like spacious areas, a health club, a gym, and children’s areas have been included as part of the expansion works. The tourist spot is a sanctuary for rare birds, gazelles, turtles, and crabs. It also offers various entertainment options like boat rides, kayaking, and archery as well as raises awareness about the local flora and fauna during nature walks. It is home to the Mangrove Centre, where visitors can observe mangroves, birds, and marine life.

Al Badayer Retreat in Sharjah’s central region has accommodated 15 new tents, standing at a total of 25 luxury tents and 21 rooms. The expansion includes seven single tents, five two-bedroom tents, and three three-bedroom tents, offering various living spaces suitable for solo travellers, families, and groups. Situated against the backdrop of Al Badayer desert, the spot offers a glimpse of the traditional Emirati lifestyle.
