UAE is poised to see robust acceleration in tourist figures as the latest Disney theme park resort will make its grand debut in Middle East and Africa (MENA). The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral, an Abu Dhabi-based developer of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, while The Walt Disney Company and its creative team will lead creative design and operational oversight to provide a world-class experience. Located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, which is home to iconic entertainment destinations like Ferrari World, SeaWorld, and Warner Bros. World, the Disney themed attraction will be instrumental in bolstering the influx of tourists in the region and consequently boost the economy.
Abu Dhabi is the seventh location for Disney-themed attractions after Florida, California, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Tokyo. With the opening of the destination, Abu Dhabi will be at the forefront as a tourist hotspot in the region. In the first ten months of 2024, it welcomed five million hotel visitors. The figures are expected to increase manifold once the Disney resort opens its doors to visitors. International visitors, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, as well as seasonal tourists will grow in numbers, fuelling appreciation in tourism, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
The upcoming Disney resort promises to seamlessly blend Disney’s legendary storytelling and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, awe-inspiring shorelines, and iconic architecture. The announcement was celebrated with a record breaking 9,000-drone show and fireworks spectacle at Yas Island. The announcement celebration signals not only a major milestone for Miral and Disney but also reinforces Yas Island’s position as a global hub for entertainment, tourism, and leisure.
This new destination project will be Disney’s seventh theme park resort worldwide and the first in the Middle East, connecting travelers from the Middle East to Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and beyond.
