Dubai, UAE
Dubai, home to the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, is set to add another super-tower that will rise beyond the 700-metre mark, which will be the world’s second tallest, to its long list of skyscrapers. The city already boasts 395 skyscrapers including 28 supertalls widespread across its landscape, ranking as the 4th city with the most skyscrapers in the world. Azizi Developments, a leading private developer in the UAE who will undertake the construction of the yet-to-be-named tower, expects the project to be completed by 2027.
The yet-to-be-named tower will be a vertical city once completed and will host residential apartments, sky villas, office space, hotel, restaurants and a vertical shopping mall! The move will re-position Azizi Developments as one of the pioneer real estate developers in the global map – and intensify the race to build tall towers in Dubai that once hosted a fifth of the world’s tallest 100 towers.
Developed by Emaar Properties, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower since January 4, 2010, stands tall at 728 metres. Construction of even a taller tower, Kingdom Tower that is slated to reach the 1-kilometre mark, has been stalled for the last five years, allowing Burj Khalifa to hold the record as the world’s tallest tower till today. Emaar Properties, meanwhile is developing another iconic tower, aptly named Dubai Tower, or the Tower, that is slated to be taller than Burj Khalifa – that is currently under construction. The height of this particular tower is still not known, but it was announced that the tower will surpass Burj Khalifa in height.
Where does the new tower by Azizi Developments stand in 2027, is something to be seen. If they push the height of the tower beyond 728 metres, then it could become the world’s tallest 2nd or 3rd tower, depending on if or when the Kingdom Tower gets completed.
Azizi has recently announced the appointment of Mr. Kang Sang Ku, who will oversee the project as the Executive Director. His previous role as the construction manager of Burj Khalifa as well as his involvement in several other significant projects have enriched his portfolio and earned him the current role.
Azizi is seeking approvals on the project’s features and will reveal details like development value, number of floors, and price points in the coming weeks. It is also preparing for the launch in the next few months. Rising to a tentative height of more than 700 metres, the tower will accommodate a vertical city of over 700 residential units, a hotel with 300 luxury suites and a six-story shopping mall. It will be located opposite the World Trade Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Once established, the tower will overtake Shanghai Tower (632 metres) and Makkah Royal Clock Tower (601 metres), making the UAE the only Arab country with the maximum tallest towers in the top 30. Not only will it enrich the city’s visually captivating view and boost tourism, but also further cement Dubai’s focal position as a global commercial hub. It will be the one-stop destination for residents, tourists, and businesspeople and inevitably play a pivotal role in Dubai’s real estate market by attracting foreign and local investors.
